Fascinated by the strange phenomenon of foreigners being able to speak their heart language, a small group of men gathered and began chatting with us. We spoke of many things and then had a divine moment when the usual resistance to speaking about \u2018the foreign religion’ was absent and we were able to have a twenty-minute conversation about the difference between a religion of works and the gospel of grace. We have yet to see a harvest in that community but, as we worship and pray, light is beginning to shine in the darkness.<\/p>\n

The huge diversity of religion in this part of the world includes Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, animism, ancestor worship, Confucianism, and Christianity.\u202f <\/span>Some countries enjoy freedom of religion, while others are significantly restricted.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Christianity is a minority religion in most of the region,\u202fand there are many unreached<\/span>\u00a0people groups.\u202f <\/span>Some Southeast Asian economies are among the fastest growing in the world and this is prompting\u202frapid cultural change and a\u202freconsideration of the role of religion.\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Who<\/strong> do we serve<\/strong> in Southeast Asia?<\/h2>\n

We serve in cities and rural areas, working with a variety of people including local church leaders, minority groups, foreign workers\/businesspeople, youth, and children.\u00a0 We are also looking at opportunities to serve refugees.<\/p>\n

Ministries include business as mission, Christian media, discipleship, mentoring, teaching in international Christian schools, exploratory prayer into new areas, English language teaching, children\u2019s ministry, and environmental projects.<\/p>\n
