Southeast Asia

The people of SouthEast Asia desperately need to know the future and hope that Jesus offers.

Fascinated by the strange phenomenon of foreigners being able to speak their heart language, a small group of men gathered and began chatting with us. We spoke of many things and then had a divine moment when the usual resistance to speaking about ‘the foreign religion’ was absent and we were able to have a twenty-minute conversation about the difference between a religion of works and the gospel of grace. We have yet to see a harvest in that community but, as we worship and pray, light is beginning to shine in the darkness.

The huge diversity of religion in this part of the world includes Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, animism, ancestor worship, Confucianism, and Christianity.  Some countries enjoy freedom of religion, while others are significantly restricted.

Christianity is a minority religion in most of the region, and there are many unreached people groups.  Some Southeast Asian economies are among the fastest growing in the world and this is prompting rapid cultural change and a reconsideration of the role of religion.

Who do we serve in Southeast Asia?

We serve in cities and rural areas, working with a variety of people including local church leaders, minority groups, foreign workers/businesspeople, youth, and children.  We are also looking at opportunities to serve refugees.

How do we serve?

Ministries include business as mission, Christian media, discipleship, mentoring, teaching in international Christian schools, exploratory prayer into new areas, English language teaching, children’s ministry, and environmental projects.

What is our vision for Southeast Asia?

  • We want to see worshipping communities which give birth to more worshippers.
  • We want to see people from different ethnic, social, and age groups united in worship of the Living God.
  • We want to see strong healthy partnerships with local people.
  • We want to see existing ministries strengthened and expansion into new areas and countries.
